Asia Centre’s 9th Annual International Conference will revolve around stories of resistance and pushback in defense of civic space in Asia. This topic is pressing and timely given the widespread contraction of civic spaces in the region, which poses a threat to the future of democratic societies.
Registration is open to all presenters and participants from academic institutions, media outlets and journalist associations, businesses, national and regional civil society organizations, international NGOs, political parties, parliaments, government agencies, and intergovernmental organizations to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking.
Researchers and practitioners wishing to present papers or share their experiences are invited to submit a title and abstract of 300–340 words in English, together with a biographical paragraph of 100 words, here. For those submitting papers, full papers should be 5,000 words (Please refer to the Style Sheet Guidelines).
Following the international conference, the Asia Centre will publish the Conference Proceedings.

33rd Annual Human Rights and Peoples’ Diplomacy Training Program
This two-week annual, comprehensive human rights and advocacy training course is the longest established human rights training program in the region, building the capacity of individuals, institutions and movements at this time of shrinking space for civil society. It builds knowledge of international human rights standards and the UN system. Similar to a summer school the program includes intensive sessions on human rights and development, advocacy and media skills. 2025 Geo for Good Summit Singapore
The Geo for Good Summit is intended for nonprofit, academic, public sector, private sector, and Indigenous peoples and local communities who are using Google Earth Engine and other geospatial tools for planetary sustainability and human resilience. By attending the Summit, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and share about the latest science and technical advances in sustainability, delve into Google’s supporting geospatial solutions, and hack together. ICANN81 Annual General Meeting, Istanbul, Türkiye
ICANN wants to hear from regional university students who are interested in the future of the Internet and participating in the ICANN81 Annual General Meeting. ICANN81 is scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, from 9 to 14 November 2024. If ICANN81 is held as a virtual meeting, all NextGen@ICANN program activities will be conducted online. If you are an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student between the ages of 18 to 30 and living and studying in the Asia Pacific region, you may be eligible for the NextGen@ICANN program.
